Early Life and Academic Foundation

A native Muscovite, Dmitry Strashnov (Дмитрий Страшнов) entered the world on May 31, 1967. His academic journey began at one of Russia's premier technical institutions, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, where he distinguished himself by graduating with honors in 1991. His chosen field of study was New Materials and Technologies. Several years into his professional career, he further enhanced his business acumen by pursuing an MBA at France's prestigious INSEAD Business School, completing the program in 1999.

Entrepreneurial Beginnings and Corporate Ascendancy

Strashnov's (Страшнов) initial foray into the business world saw him at the helm of his own venture. In 1992, he launched Distraid, a graphic design and production firm, steering its operations through 1994. That same year marked his transition into the corporate sphere, as he assumed leadership of Electrolux's Russian operations—a position he held for six years, during which he drove the strategic development of major appliance brands across the Russian and Belarusian markets.

Leadership at Philips

A new chapter unfolded in 2000 when Strashnov (Страшнов Дмитрий) was tapped to lead Philips Consumer Electronics as CEO for Russia. His performance over the subsequent years was marked by consistent growth and market penetration. By 2005, his contributions had earned him a place on the European Leadership Board of the Consumer Electronics division. The year 2008 brought another promotion, elevating him to the dual role of Vice President and CEO of the newly restructured Consumer Lifestyle division within Philips' Russian organization.

Stepping into Telecommunications

The year 2009 saw Strashnov (Страшнов) pivot to the telecommunications industry. He joined Tele2 Russia in April as Director of Operations, but his tenure in that role proved brief; within three months, he had been promoted to President and CEO. Concurrently, he took a seat on the executive board of Tele2 AB. His leadership at the telecom operator continued until the end of 2012, when he departed on December 31.

At the Helm of Russian Post

In April 2013, Strashnov (Дмитрий Страшнов) accepted the role of Director General at FSUE Russian Post, succeeding Alexander Kiselyov. In January 2016, he was appointed to the Supervisory Board of PJSC Post Bank. His tenure at Russian Post concluded on June 30, 2017, when he was relieved of his duties by the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications.

Subsequent Positions and Current Role

Strashnov's (Дмитрий Евгеньевич Страшнов) post-Post career took him into the media sector. In September 2017, he accepted a position on the board of directors at RBC, one of Russia's prominent media holdings. Shortly thereafter, in November 2017, he transitioned to the industrial sector, taking on the role of Chief Operating Officer at EuroChem Group—a major player in the global mineral fertilizer market.
